Beating Heart 2022 Movie – Storyline :

Two girls are admitted to the Jingjiang Chang'an hospital in China, Ding Yan with a congenital heart disease and Jiang Xiaoyu with a brain tumor. Ding Yiming, Ding Yan's father and the hospital's general manager, plots to steal Jiang Xiaoyu's heart. Jiang Xiaoyu's mother, Ou Lichun, tries to gather funds for her daughter's treatment. Ding Yan and Jiang Xiaoyu become friends in the hospital. Ding Yiming offers to pay for Jiang Xiaoyu's treatment and confesses his wife died due to a lack of rare blood type donors. Gao Jin warns Ou Lichun to transfer her daughter to another hospital, suspecting the plot.

Beating Heart is a mainland China-funded hospital drama directed by veteran Hong Kong DP, Huang Yuetai. The film features talented actors Wang Qianyuan and Tan Zhuo, but the weak script squanders their abilities. The film was written by Cheng Yanwen and focuses on life-and-death choices, but the simplistic screenplay doesn't do the material justice. The film becomes a cheesy crime thriller and race against time, with cross-border action and a cameo by Taiwan's Wang Dalu as an organ trafficker. The film was shot in 2019 in Shandong province and had a poor box office performance of 7.6 million RMB. Technical credits are average and the film was edited by veteran editor Lin An'er.
